The Yard Waste Ban for New Castle County has been implemented.  Please see the following link on how the city is dealding with the yard waste ban. More Information

Pomeroy Trail
A whole new bike and walking trail is coming to the City. The path will connect to the Hall Trail (near the Amtrak line) via the Pomeroy Rail right away. Millions in Federal funds have been allocated to this project. Thanks to Senator Carper and all that worked so hard on this project. Some road crossings, like Chapel Street & Paper Mill will be a challenge. I'm also suggesting a connection from the Old Curtis Paper Mill lot to the trail. That way, residents can bring their bikes by car and enjoy the trail by foot or by bike. Trail Map

Newark Reservoir
The good news is that the reservoir has been completed and is fully functional. City staff is pleased with its operations. The reservoir is not just used in times of drought. It is also used when the creek is too muddy or too salty. As of March 2007 the reservoir has saved the City $450,000+ by not buying water from United Water. If you have questions regarding the operations of the reservoir, please contact Roy Simonson at 366-7055. For recreation, there is also a walking path around the top of the reservoir which also connects to wooded paths through Redd Park.
